By combining Shufti’s identity verification, Evrotrust’s qualified trust services, and sproof’s signature orchestration, a seamless workflow for KYC and digital signatures is created that helps companies meet regulatory requirements and provide a seamless user experience.

Berlin, August 3, 2026 – Evrotrust, in collaboration with Shufti and sproof, has developed an integrated end-to-end workflow for KYC and digital signatures. The three partners combine identity verification, qualified trust services, and signature orchestration into a single process that is particularly well-suited for digital onboarding and signing scenarios in regulated environments.

At the heart of the partnership is an end-to-end process that offers companies a consistent combination of identity verification, qualified electronic signatures, and technical integration. In doing so, Evrotrust, Shufti, and sproof primarily address the needs of organizations that want to implement digital transactions in a legally compliant manner and with as little friction as possible in the user experience.

Evrotrust provides the regulated trust infrastructure that links verified identities with qualified certificates and qualified electronic signatures. This enables platforms to implement legally valid digital signatures without having to build their own qualified trust infrastructure. The issued certificates are embedded in PAdES-LTV files with long-term validation. This ensures the durability required for AMLR-compliant and auditable onboarding processes. Signatures remain verifiable over the long term and are legally valid in all 27 EU member states as well as in the EEA under Article 25 of the eIDAS Regulation. Verifiability extends for up to ten years.

The Process in Detail

The document-based process begins in sproof, where the entire workflow is also managed. The joint workflow then follows three steps. First, Shufti verifies the signer’s identity. This is done using notified eIDs, document and biometric checks, or an NFC-enabled ID scan. According to the company, the process takes about twelve seconds. Biometric recognition accuracy is 99.7 percent. The liveness detection technology used is certified to iBeta ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 3.

Shufti then transmits only a cryptographic hash of the signing process to Evrotrust. The underlying document is not transmitted at any time. Evrotrust then issues the qualified certificate and provides the trust services required for the QES (qualified electronic signature). sproof completes the process and signs the document within the same session.

For signers who use a one-time QES, the following applies: The certificate is limited to that specific signing session. It is issued and used immediately and is not stored or reused afterward. This does not affect the legal validity of the signature.

sproof has built its signature orchestration entirely on this shared identity and trust layer. For enterprise customers, this means a process that doesn’t fail simply because signers don’t have a qualified certificate. The entire workflow takes place within a single session. sproof operates its platform exclusively on European server infrastructure. This eliminates any dependence on U.S. providers. This approach also reduces risks posed by foreign data access laws such as the U.S. Cloud Act. The EU-hosted environment is already in use during the identity verification process via Shufti.

“Europe is moving away from isolated identity verification toward a reusable, regulated digital trust infrastructure. Evrotrust’s role is to provide the qualified trust infrastructure that turns a verified identity into a legally binding digital transaction. Together with Shufti and sproof, we are demonstrating how qualified trust services can be integrated directly into the customer journey: securely, seamlessly, and scalably,” says Dr. Heinrich Grave, Managing Director for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at Evrotrust.

“The EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation makes qualified identities the new standard for digital onboarding. Through its partnership with Shufti Pro and Evrotrust, sproof combines regulatory compliance with a high level of user-friendliness. Companies can meet future legal requirements today without losing conversions due to fragmented processes,” says Dr. Fabian Knirsch, CEO and co-founder of sproof.

“For us, identity verification was never the actual goal, but rather the foundation for everything that builds upon it. With AMLR and eIDAS 2.0, the digital trust framework is changing noticeably. That’s why, together with Evrotrust, we’ve established an end-to-end process ranging from identity verification to qualified electronic signatures. Both converge into a single onboarding workflow. The fact that sproof is developing its orchestration precisely on this basis aligns with what Shufti was designed for from the very beginning. “This partnership demonstrates how Shufti views innovation: not only through what the company develops itself, but also through the impact and opportunities this creates for partners,” says Shahid Hanif, CEO of Shufti.
